Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.116 -0.23% Normal range mid-range
Euro-dollar is sitting in a no-clear-bias-yet zone right now, honey — she closed slightly lower last session but nothing dramatic enough to point us in a firm direction 💛. Price is resting in the middle of its recent range (the space between the high and low of the last several candles), so we're not seeing bulls or bears in control just yet. Watch for a decisive close (a candle that finishes and holds) either above 1.1200 or below the current area — that's the kind of confirmation we'd want before leaning one way.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1200
GBPUSD moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 1.339 +0.05% Normal range near swing HIGH
Cable (our nickname for GBPUSD) closed the last session near its swing high (the top of its recent price range), and with no major news events on the calendar today, there's room for buyers to stay in control while price holds above 1.3340 💛. Our moderate bullish bias (leaning upward) stays intact as long as we don't see a candle close below that 1.3340 level — a close beneath it would tell us the buying pressure has faded and we'd want to step back and reassess. Watch for price to continue pushing higher toward recent resistance zones (price ceilings where sellers have shown up before), but always let the candle closes guide you rather than rushing in.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3340
USDJPY no clear bias
Close: 157.7 -0.08% Quiet range upper half of range
The dollar-yen is sitting quietly near the top of its recent range (the zone between the highest and lowest prices over the past few sessions), but with almost no movement last session and no big news events on the calendar today, there's no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers (those betting the pair moves higher) can hold price above 157.00 — a close below that level would be the signal that this mild upward tilt has lost its footing. For now, treat this as a wait-and-see moment rather than a clear directional call.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 157.00
AUDUSD no clear bias
Close: 0.7029 +0.03% Normal range upper half of range
The Aussie-dollar (AUDUSD — how many US dollars one Australian dollar buys) is sitting quietly after a near-flat session, and right now we don't have a clear enough signal to lean firmly in either direction. We're watching to see whether price can hold above 0.6980 — that's the level where a dip would start to tell a different story — and a confident daily close above 0.7050 would be the first green light that bulls (buyers) are stepping in with real conviction. For now, it's a wait-and-see moment 💛
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.6980
USDCAD no clear bias
Close: 1.397 -0.12% Quiet range near swing LOW
USDCAD (the US dollar versus the Canadian dollar) is sitting quietly near the low end of its recent range, but with no major news events scheduled today and only a tiny dip last session, there's no clear signal yet pointing firmly in either direction. We're in a watching-and-waiting moment — price needs to either hold this swing low (the little valley where buyers have stepped in before) and push back up with energy, or break cleanly below it to give us a real directional clue. No strong bias has formed yet, so patience is your best tool here 💛.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3995
GBPJPY no clear bias
Close: 211.1 -0.02% Normal range upper half of range
The pound-yen closed nearly flat (almost no change from the open to the close) with no big news events on the calendar today, so there's no clear directional lean just yet 💛. Price is sitting in the upper half of yesterday's range, which is a small positive sign, but we'd want to see a clean hold above 210.50 (recent support, the level buyers stepped in last) before feeling confident about any upward move. Watch how price reacts to that zone — a slip and close below 209.80 would flip our thinking and suggest sellers are taking control.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 209.80
Gold moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 3970 +1.81% Normal range lower half of range
Gold had a strong session yesterday, climbing +1.81% (a solid push upward), and with no high-impact news events on the calendar today, the bulls (buyers) have a relatively calm runway to build on that momentum 💛. Our bias leans upward while price holds above 3,920 — think of that as the floor we're watching; a daily close beneath it would tell us the buying pressure has faded and we'd need to reassess. Price sitting in the lower half of yesterday's range (meaning it pulled back a little from the highs) could actually offer a tidier spot to look for entries if you see the buyers step back in.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 3,920
Silver no clear bias
Close: 50.72 +3.31% Quiet range near swing LOW
Silver had a solid bounce last session, closing up over 3% — but she's still sitting near the swing low (the last little valley price bounced from), so we don't have a clear directional bias just yet. 💛 We'd want to see her hold above 49.80 and start pushing higher with some follow-through before leaning bullish (upward-tilting). For now, we're watching and waiting for confirmation that buyers are truly stepping in with conviction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 49.80
S&P500 no clear bias
Close: 7541 -0.51% Expanded range near swing LOW
The S&P 500 is sitting in a bit of a mixed spot right now — yesterday's session closed slightly lower and price finished near the bottom of its range (the low point of the day's movement), which is worth noticing, but we don't have a clear directional tilt just yet 💛. What we'd want to see before leaning bearish (expecting lower prices) is a confirmed close beneath recent support (the floor price has bounced from before); equally, a strong push back above 5,620 would signal the bulls (buyers) are back in control. For now, we're watching and waiting for the market to show its hand before committing to a direction.
NASDAQ moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 27,990 -1.39% Normal range near swing LOW
NASDAQ closed near its swing low (the lowest point of the recent back-and-forth zone) after a -1.39% drop last session, so we're carrying a mild bearish bias (leaning downward) into today. While price holds below 28,350, the path of least resistance (the direction that feels easiest for price to travel) stays softer, and a continuation toward the lower end of the recent range is worth watching for. That said, if buyers step in and push a close back above 28,350, this whole bearish lean gets cancelled — that level is our line in the sand 💛.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 28,350
DAX moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 25,980 +0.63% Normal range upper half of range
DAX closed in the upper half of yesterday's range (meaning price finished closer to the session high than the low) with a solid +0.63% gain, which tells us buyers stayed in control through the close 💛. While price holds above 25,750, the bias (our directional lean) stays moderately bullish, meaning we favour further strength toward fresh highs. A daily close back below 25,750 would flip that picture and suggest the sellers have taken over — worth watching carefully if we dip back there.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 25,750
BTCUSD moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 76,680 -2.01% Normal range near swing LOW
Bitcoin closed the last session down about 2% and is sitting near its swing low (the most recent low point where price paused and tried to bounce), which puts a mild bearish bias (leaning downward) on the table for now 💛. As long as price stays below the 79,200 area, the path of least resistance (the direction that feels easiest for price to travel) leans toward further softness — a clean reclaim above that level would change the picture and flip us back to watching for buyers. If you're keeping an eye on Bitcoin today, let price show you which side is in control before committing — patience is always your edge.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 79,200
ETHUSD no clear bias
Close: 2249 -1.06% Normal range lower half of range
Ethereum closed the session just a touch lower and is sitting in the lower half of its daily range (meaning price spent more time near the bottom of where it traded today than the top) — so the picture is a little mixed right now with no strong signal pulling us clearly in either direction 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers step in and push price back above 2300, which would be the first sign that momentum (the energy behind the move) is shifting; until that happens, there's no clear lean to trade off of. Stay patient, keep your risk small, and let the market show its hand before committing.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 2300

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
