Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.116 +0.23% Normal range mid-range
Euro-dollar is sitting in a genuinely mixed spot right now — mid-range (price closed roughly in the middle of yesterday's high-to-low, not pushing strongly in either direction) with no big news events on the calendar today to tip the scales. That tiny positive close is a whisper of strength, but not enough on its own to call a clear direction, so we're in watch-and-wait mode. 💛 A firm hold and push above yesterday's high would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are stepping in; a slip back below 1.1120 would tell us that little nudge upward has faded.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1120
GBPUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.333 +0.16% Normal range upper half of range
Cable (GBPUSD) closed the last session just slightly higher, sitting in the upper half of its daily range (the distance between the day's high and low), but there's no clear directional pull just yet — we'd want to see price hold and push convincingly above recent highs before leaning bullish (upward). No big news events are scheduled today, so watch for whether buyers keep showing up near 1.3300 or whether price drifts back — a clean close below 1.3280 would tell us the mild upward lean is off the table for now. 💛
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3280
USDJPY no clear bias
Close: 157.8 -0.1% Quiet range upper half of range
Dollar-yen is sitting quietly right now — no big news on the calendar today and price barely moved last session, so there's no clear direction to lean into just yet 💛. We'd want to see price push up and hold above 158.20 (the top of yesterday's range) before getting interested in upside, or a slip under 157.20 to consider any downside. For now, it's a watching-and-waiting moment — no clear bias has formed, and that's perfectly okay.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 156.80
AUDUSD no clear bias
Close: 0.7058 +0.39% Normal range upper half of range
Aussie-dollar is sitting quietly without a clear directional story yet — yesterday's session closed slightly higher but nothing has firmly committed to a direction 💛. We're watching to see if price can hold above 0.7020 (our key reference level where a close below would tell us the mild positive mood has faded) and build a pattern of higher closes before leaning bullish (upward-tilting). No high-impact news is scheduled today for this pair, so we're in a 'wait and see' posture — no rush to take a side until the chart gives us a clearer invitation.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.7020
USDCAD no clear bias
Close: 1.399 -0.45% Quiet range near swing LOW
USDCAD (the US dollar versus the Canadian dollar) is sitting near the bottom of its recent range after a quiet session, so right now there's no clear push in either direction — we're watching to see whether price can hold this area or starts to slip further. If you see a strong hourly candle close back above 1.4040 (that would tell us buyers have stepped back in), a mild upward lean could start to form; until then, we're in 'wait and see' mode. 💛 With no high-impact news touching this pair today, the next clear move may come from overall market mood rather than a specific catalyst.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.4040
GBPJPY no clear bias
Close: 210.3 +0.06% Normal range upper half of range
The pound-yen closed the session nearly flat with just a tiny +0.06% nudge, and while she settled in the upper half of her daily range (meaning price closed closer to the day's high than its low), the picture is genuinely mixed without a clear push in either direction yet. 💛 We're watching to see if buyers can build on that upper-range close or if price drifts back — no strong lean has formed just yet. Keep 209.20 on your radar as the level where any quiet bullish tilt (upward leaning) would need a rethink.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 209.20
Gold no clear bias
Close: 4031 -0.5% Normal range near swing LOW
Gold closed slightly lower last session and is sitting near the bottom of its recent range (the lowest prices it's been trading around lately), so there's no clear directional signal yet — we're in a wait-and-see moment 💛. A push back above the recent session high would be the first sign buyers are stepping back in, while continued pressure below current levels could open the door for more downside. No major news events are lined up for Gold today, so watch how price reacts to this swing low area (the little valley it's hovering near) before forming a bias.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 3,280
Silver moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 52.19 -2.37% Normal range near swing LOW
Silver closed the last session down sharply at 32.19, finishing near the swing low (the bottom of the recent price range where buyers have stepped in before), which tells us sellers had the upper hand yesterday 💛. Our bias leans mildly bearish (tilting downward) while price stays below 33.20 — if Silver can't reclaim that level, we stay watchful for further softness toward lower support zones (price floors where buyers may show up again). A clear daily close back above 33.20 would flip our thinking and open the door to a recovery story instead.
S&P500 no clear bias
Close: 7720 -0.3% Quiet range lower half of range
The S&P 500 closed slightly lower last session and is sitting in the lower half of its recent range (the band between recent highs and lows), so there's no clear directional bias just yet — we're watching rather than leaning. Price action is quiet (moving less than its typical daily distance), which means the market hasn't shown its hand; a move back above 5,820 would start to shift the mood brighter, while continued softness below current levels would be needed before any bearish (downward) lean takes shape. For now, patience is the trade 💛
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 5,820
NASDAQ no clear bias
Close: 29,400 -1.38% Quiet range near swing LOW
NASDAQ is sitting close to its recent swing low (the last little floor price bounced from) after a down session, but there's no clear push in either direction just yet — we want to see what price actually does at this level before leaning one way. A hold and bounce here could be interesting for bulls, while a clean break and close below this zone would be the sign bears are in control. For now, we're watching rather than calling direction 💛
DAX moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 26,040 +1.31% Normal range upper half of range
DAX closed near the top of yesterday's candle (the daily price bar) after a solid +1.31% gain, which tells us buyers were in control into the close 💛. While price holds above 25,750, our bias stays moderately bullish (leaning upward) — meaning we're watching for the index to continue building on that strength. A daily close back below 25,750 would flip this outlook to neutral and signal that sellers have stepped back in.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 25,750
BTCUSD moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 77,780 -4.3% Expanded range near swing LOW
Bitcoin closed yesterday down over 4% and finished near the very bottom of its daily range (the lowest prices of the day), which tells us sellers were firmly in control right up to the closing bell 💛. The session also expanded (meaning price moved much more than Bitcoin's typical daily distance), and big expanded candles closing near their lows often invite follow-through pressure, so our bias leans cautious (tilting downward) while price stays beneath the 81,500 area. If Bitcoin can reclaim and close back above 81,500, that flips our thinking and the bearish lean gets cancelled — until then, we're watching carefully before considering any upside ideas.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 81,500
ETHUSD moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 2249 -4.59% Expanded range lower half of range
Ethereum closed the last session down nearly 5% — that's a meaningful drop — and finished in the lower half of its daily range (meaning sellers were in control right up until the bell), so we're carrying a moderately bearish bias (leaning downward) into today's session. 💛 The range expanded (price moved more than its typical daily distance), which tells us this wasn't just a quiet drift lower — real selling pressure showed up. Bias stays bearish while ETH holds below 2,350; a reclaim and daily close back above that level would tell us the selling momentum has faded and we'd want to reassess the lean entirely.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 2,350

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
