Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.123 +0.1% Quiet range mid-range
Euro-dollar is sitting quietly in the middle of its recent range (the space between the high and low price of the day) with no big news events on the calendar today, so there's no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether price can hold above 1.1180 — that's the level where our mild upward tilt would no longer make sense — but until we see a stronger move or a fresh catalyst (a news event or price action that sparks momentum), this pair is really in a 'wait and see' mood. There's nothing here yet that signals a confident lean, so patience is your best tool right now.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1180
GBPUSD moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 1.337 +0.49% Quiet range near swing HIGH
Cable (our nickname for GBPUSD) closed yesterday near the top of its recent range (the upper boundary of where price has been moving back and forth), and that gentle upward momentum gives us a moderate bullish lean — meaning we're tilting toward expecting higher prices while price holds above 1.3300 💛. The session was quiet (price moved less than its usual daily distance, so no big swings to navigate), which can sometimes mean a calmer follow-through is possible if buyers stay in control. If we see a close back below 1.3300, that lean flips off the table and we'd want to step back and reassess before making any new decisions.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3300
USDJPY no clear bias
Close: 158.3 -0.16% Normal range upper half of range
Dollar-yen is sitting in a bit of a mixed spot right now — yesterday's session closed almost flat (barely any movement either way), and while price is holding in the upper half of its daily range, there's no strong signal yet pointing clearly up or down. 💛 We'd want to see price hold above 157.60 (the nearby support level, meaning the price floor where buyers have stepped in before) and show some real energy before leaning bullish (upward-tilting); a clear close below that level would open the door to more downside pressure.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 157.60
AUDUSD moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 0.7007 +0.34% Quiet range near swing HIGH
The Aussie (AUDUSD — how many US dollars one Australian dollar buys) closed the last session quietly but positively, finishing near the top of its recent range (the high end of where price has been moving back and forth), which gives us a mild bullish lean (leaning upward) heading into today 💛. Bias stays constructive (meaning the conditions favour buyers) while price holds above 0.6960 — a slip and daily close below that level would tell us the lean is wrong and we'd need to step back and reassess. With no high-impact news events scheduled for the Aussie today, the pair has room to breathe, but as always we watch price action for confirmation before assuming the move continues.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.6960
USDCAD no clear bias
Close: 1.407 -0.28% Quiet range near swing LOW
USDCAD (the US dollar versus the Canadian dollar) is sitting near the bottom of its recent range (the low end of where price has been trading lately), so we don't have a clear directional lean just yet — we're watching to see whether buyers step in here or price continues to drift lower. Yesterday's session closed slightly softer (price edged down 0.28%), and today's movement looks like it could stay quiet with no high-impact news events on the calendar. A push and hold back above 1.4120 would be the first thing we'd want to see before leaning bullish (upward-tilting) with any confidence 💛.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.4120
GBPJPY moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 211.6 +0.31% Quiet range near swing HIGH
The pound-yen closed the last session near the top of its range (the highest prices it reached that day), which tells us buyers were in control right up to the bell — a moderately bullish lean (tilting upward) stays in place while price holds above 209.80. 💛 No high-impact news events are scheduled to shake things up today, so if the pair keeps making higher little valleys (higher swing lows, meaning each dip stops at a higher price than the last), that's a healthy sign the upward mood could continue. A daily close back below 209.80 would flip the picture and open the door to a deeper pullback (a larger drop back down), so we'd want to see that level hold as our safety net.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 209.80
Gold no clear bias
Close: 4150 +0.18% Quiet range near swing LOW
Gold is sitting near the swing low (the last little valley where price bounced before) after a very quiet session — no clear bias has formed just yet 💛. We're watching to see if buyers step in and push a clean close back above recent highs to give us a reason to lean upward, or if price slips further and opens a deeper pullback. No big news events today, so stay patient and wait for the market to show her hand before committing to a direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 3,300
Silver no clear bias
Close: 57.42 -0.49% Quiet range near swing LOW
Silver is sitting quietly near the low end of yesterday's range (the bottom of the area price moved through), and there's no clear push in either direction yet — so we're watching rather than leaning 💛. A move back above the recent swing high (the last little peak price bounced down from) would be the first sign bulls are waking up, while continued closes near these lows keep the cautious mood in place. No major news events are touching Silver today, so price action itself will be our guide — patience is the play here.
S&P500 no clear bias
Close: 7757 +0.58% Normal range lower half of range
The S&P 500 closed slightly higher last session, but with price sitting in the lower half of its daily range (meaning it closed closer to the day's lows than its highs), we don't have a clear directional picture just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers can step in and push price back toward recent highs — that would be the first sign of strength worth following. No major news events today, so price action (the actual movement on your chart) will be our guide.
NASDAQ moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 28,960 -2.9% Normal range near swing LOW
NASDAQ closed near the bottom of yesterday's range (meaning price settled close to its lowest point of the session) after a sharp -2.90% drop, so our bias leans cautious — tilting bearish (leaning downward) while price stays below the 19,400 area. If we see a recovery back above that level with a strong close, this bearish lean would be off the table and we'd reassess. Until then, any little bounces (small upward wiggles in price) could be selling opportunities rather than signs of a true reversal 💛.
DAX moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 25,650 +1.35% Expanded range upper half of range
DAX had a strong session yesterday, closing up 1.35% with an expanded range (meaning price moved more than its usual daily distance) and settled in the upper half of that range — all signs pointing to buyers being in control 💛. While price holds above the 25,400 area, a moderately bullish bias (leaning upward) stays intact, and we'd watch for any dips toward that level to see if buyers step back in. A daily close below 25,400 would flip the picture and open the door for a pullback (a move lower to find fresh support), so that's the level to keep on your radar.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 25,400
BTCUSD no clear bias
Close: 84,010 +1.29% Normal range lower half of range
Bitcoin closed the last session on a positive note with a modest gain, but right now the picture is mixed enough that we don't have a clear direction to lean into just yet 💛. Price is sitting in the lower half of its recent range (meaning it closed closer to the day's lows than the highs), so we'd want to see buyers step in and push above the upper portion of that range before feeling confident about an upward move. Watch how price behaves around current levels — a strong hold and push higher would be the first signal a bullish bias (leaning upward) might be forming, while a close below 82,500 would tell us sellers are in control.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 82,500
ETHUSD no clear bias
Close: 2471 +0.98% Normal range lower half of range
ETH is sitting quietly right now — no big news on the calendar today and yesterday's move was calm and normal-sized, so there's no clear push in either direction yet 💛. We're watching to see whether price can hold above 2471 (yesterday's closing price, which acts as our reference line); if it starts accepting below that level with a full candle close underneath, that would shift things and we'd need to reassess. For now, treat this as a 'wait and see' moment — let the market show its hand before committing to a direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 2471

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
