Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.122 -0.09% Quiet range lower half of range
The euro-dollar is sitting quietly right now — no big news on the calendar today and yesterday's session barely moved, which means we don't have a clear picture yet of where she wants to go next. 💛 She's resting in the lower half of her recent range (the band between the highest and lowest prices she's visited lately), so we're watching to see whether buyers step in here or she drifts a little lower before finding her footing. No strong lean either way until we see a decisive move; a close back above 1.1260 would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are waking up, while continued softness below keeps the mild downside tilt in play.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1260
GBPUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.331 -0.2% Normal range near swing HIGH
Cable (our nickname for GBPUSD) is sitting just below its recent swing high (the peak price reached before pulling back) with no major news events today to shake things up — so there's no clear bias forming just yet 💛. We'd want to see price hold above yesterday's close around 1.3310 and push through that swing high with conviction (real follow-through buying) before leaning bullish (upward-tilting); a close back below 1.3310 would take even that mild tilt off the table. For now, patience is the trade — watch how she behaves around this high rather than jumping in either direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3310
USDJPY moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 158.5 +0.45% Normal range upper half of range
The dollar-yen (USD/JPY) closed the last session up nearly half a percent and is sitting in the upper half of its daily range — meaning price is holding near the highs of the day, which is a sign of quiet strength 💛. Our bias leans moderately bullish (tilting upward) while price holds above 157.60; a close beneath that level would tell us the buyers have lost control and we'd step back from the upside idea. No big news events are scheduled today for this pair, so if the momentum (the push in price's current direction) continues, the path of least resistance feels like it favors the yen weakening further against the dollar — but we watch that 157.60 line as our signal to reassess.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 157.60
AUDUSD no clear bias
Close: 0.6983 +0.15% Normal range upper half of range
The Aussie-dollar is sitting quietly with no clear bias just yet — yesterday's tiny gain and normal range (price moved about its usual daily distance, nothing dramatic) don't give us a strong signal in either direction. 💛 We're watching to see if price can hold above 0.6950 and push with purpose, which would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are stepping in with conviction. Until we see that confirmation, it's a wait-and-watch moment rather than a leaning one.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.6950
USDCAD no clear bias
Close: 1.411 -0.1% Normal range near swing LOW
USDCAD (the US dollar versus the Canadian dollar) is sitting close to the bottom of its recent range (the low end of where price has been trading), but yesterday's tiny dip of just -0.10% and a normal-sized day don't give us a strong push in either direction just yet. 💛 We're watching to see whether buyers step in here at this swing low (the last little valley price bounced from) or whether price quietly slips further — neither side has shown enough conviction (clear, committed momentum) to call a lean yet. A hold above 1.4160 is the key early signal that sellers are still in control; a bounce and close back toward 1.4140 and above would be the first hint that buyers might be waking up.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.4160
GBPJPY moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 211 +0.26% Quiet range near swing HIGH
The pound-yen closed near the top of its recent range (the high end of where price has been bouncing back and forth), and that gentle green close hints at buyers still showing up 💛. Our bias leans bullish (tilting upward) while price holds above 209.50 — a daily close beneath that level would tell us the buyers have stepped away and we'd reassess the whole outlook. Today's session looks quiet with no big news events to shake things up, so we're watching for price to keep respecting that upper range — if it does, the door stays open for further strength.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 209.50
Gold no clear bias
Close: 4143 -0.42% Quiet range lower half of range
Gold had a quiet session yesterday, closing slightly lower and sitting in the lower half of its recent price range (the zone between the high and low of recent days) — so right now there's no clear push in either direction to get excited about. 💛 We'd want to see Gold reclaim higher ground with some energy before leaning bullish (upward-tilted), or see a decisive close below nearby support (a price floor the market has respected before) to lean bearish (downward-tilted). For now, we're in 'wait and watch' mode — no strong edge yet, and that's perfectly okay.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 3,280
Silver no clear bias
Close: 57.71 +1.28% Normal range lower half of range
Silver had a decent green close last session, but we don't have a clear enough bias yet to lean confidently in either direction — so right now we're in watch-and-confirm mode 💛. To start building a bullish case (a reason to favor upside), we'd want to see Silver hold above the 56.80 area and push back toward the upper part of yesterday's range; a close back below 56.80 would tell us the buyers aren't in control and opens the door for more softness. No major scheduled news events are touching Silver today, so price action itself — how she moves, where she stalls — will be our main guide.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 56.80
S&P500 moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 7713 +0.28% Normal range upper half of range
The S&P 500 closed in the upper half of its session range (meaning price finished closer to the day's high than its low) with a modest gain, and that's a quiet but encouraging sign of buyer control 💛. Our bullish bias (leaning upward) stays intact while price holds above the 5,580 area — a close beneath that level would tell us the buyers have stepped back and we'd need to reassess. No big news events today to shake things up, so watch for price to either push higher or pause and consolidate (take a breather) before the next move.
NASDAQ no clear bias
Close: 29,490 -0.13% Normal range lower half of range
NASDAQ closed just a whisker lower last session with no strong push in either direction, so right now there's no clear bias (no obvious leaning toward buyers or sellers) — we're in watch-and-see territory 💛. Price sitting in the lower half of its daily range tells us sellers had a slight edge by the close, but it's not enough on its own to call a directional move. Keep an eye on whether price can reclaim and hold above 19,650 (that's the level where a bearish lean would be wrong and buyers would be back in control).
DAX no clear bias
Close: 25,300 -0.06% Normal range near swing HIGH
DAX closed almost flat yesterday — just a tiny -0.06% dip — and is sitting near the top of its recent range (the highest prices it has touched lately), so there's no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers step in and defend this area, or whether price slips back — a clean daily close above yesterday's high would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are taking charge, while a drop under 25,100 would tell us the high was a false ceiling and we'd need to reassess. For now, treat this as a 'show me first' moment rather than leaning strongly one way.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 25,100
BTCUSD no clear bias
Close: 82,940 +1.33% Normal range mid-range
Bitcoin closed the last session with a modest gain, but right now we don't have a clear enough picture to lean strongly in either direction — price is sitting in the middle of its recent range (not near any obvious floor or ceiling), and there are no big news events today to act as a catalyst. We're in a 'wait and see' mode: a confident push and hold above roughly 84,500 would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are taking charge, while a slip back below 81,200 would tell us the sellers are winning. For now, the safest move is to watch how price reacts at those levels before committing to a direction. 💛
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 81,200
ETHUSD no clear bias
Close: 2447 +1.74% Normal range lower half of range
ETH closed up +1.74% last session but finished in the lower half of its daily range (meaning price faded off the highs before the close), so there's no clear directional bias forming just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers can step in and push a clean close above the mid-range area — that would be the first sign a bullish lean (upward tilt) is worth trusting. Until then, we stay patient and let price show its hand rather than guessing.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 2,380

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
