Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.121 +0.16% Normal range lower half of range
EURUSD is sitting in a no-clear-bias zone right now — yesterday's tiny +0.16% move and a close in the lower half of the day's range (meaning price drifted back down after the session opened) don't give us a strong directional signal to work with yet. 💛 We're watching to see whether buyers can defend the 1.1180 area; a clean hold and push higher from there would be the first sign a bullish lean (upward tilt) could start to build. Until then, patience is our edge — no red-folder news (high-impact economic events) on the calendar today, so any move is more likely to be slow and choppy rather than a big trend.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1180
GBPUSD moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 1.327 +0.33% Expanded range upper half of range
Cable (our nickname for the British pound versus the US dollar) closed the last session in the upper half of its range and stretched further than its typical daily distance — that kind of expanded range (price moving more than usual) often signals real momentum behind the move. Our bias leans modestly bullish (tilted upward) while price holds above 1.3220; a clear daily close beneath that level would tell us the buyers have lost control and we'd want to step back and reassess. With no high-impact news events scheduled for this pair today, the picture stays constructive 💛 — just watch that 1.3220 line as your anchor.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3220
USDJPY no clear bias
Close: 158.1 +0.12% Quiet range mid-range
Dollar-yen is sitting quietly in the middle of its recent range (the space between today's high and low prices) with no big news events on the calendar to shake things up — so right now there's no clear push in either direction to lean on yet. 💛 We'd want to see price either hold above 158.10 and start climbing with energy, or break below 157.50 (our invalidation level — the point where the mild upward idea would be wrong) before calling a real direction. For now, patience is the trade — watching for confirmation rather than guessing.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 157.50
AUDUSD moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 0.6919 -0.86% Normal range lower half of range
The Aussie-dollar closed near the bottom of yesterday's range (the low-to-high distance price travelled) after a meaningful -0.86% drop, which tells us sellers had the upper hand going into the close. Our moderate bearish bias (leaning downward) stays in place while price holds below 0.6955 — a climb and daily close back above that level would flip our read and we'd step aside. If sellers keep control, watch for the pair to test lower support zones (price floors where buyers have stepped in before) with no big news events today to shake things up.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.6955
USDCAD no clear bias
Close: 1.419 -0.14% Normal range lower half of range
USDCAD (the US dollar versus the Canadian dollar) is giving us a mixed picture right now — yesterday's session closed slightly lower with a normal range (price moved about its usual daily distance) and price is sitting in the lower half of that range, but there's no major news event today to push it clearly in either direction. We don't have a strong lean yet, so we're in 'watch and wait' mode 💛 — a move and close back above 1.4220 would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are stepping back in, while continued pressure below that level keeps the mild downside tilt alive.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.4220
GBPJPY moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 209.9 +0.43% Normal range upper half of range
The pound-yen closed the last session in the upper half of its range (meaning price spent most of the day near the highs, not the lows) with a small but positive gain, giving us a moderate bullish bias (a leaning-upward tilt) while price holds above 208.50 💛. If buyers keep the pair above that level, the path of least resistance (the direction that feels easier for price to travel) stays tilted higher. A close back below 208.50 would flip this picture and remove that bullish lean entirely — so watch that level carefully before committing to any direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 208.50
Gold no clear bias
Close: 4181 +0.26% Normal range lower half of range
Gold had a quiet session yesterday, closing just a touch higher with normal movement — no strong push in either direction yet 💛. Right now there's no clear bias (no strong tilt one way or the other), so we're watching to see whether buyers step in and defend recent levels or whether price starts slipping lower. Keep an eye on how Gold behaves around current prices — a sustained push higher with momentum would be the first sign a bullish lean (upward tilt) could start forming.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 3,300
Silver no clear bias
Close: 56.99 +0.28% Quiet range near swing LOW
Silver is sitting near the bottom of its recent range (the low end of where price has been bouncing around lately), but last session's tiny gain of +0.28% hasn't given us a clear signal either way yet 💛. Price action has been quiet — meaning Silver moved less than her usual daily distance — so we don't have enough momentum to lean bullish or bearish with confidence right now. We're watching to see if she holds this area and shows a strong bounce, or slips lower; a clear move and close above recent resistance (the ceiling price keeps bumping into) would be the first sign a bullish lean (upward tilt) could form.
S&P500 moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 7659 -1.09% Expanded range lower half of range
The S&P500 closed in the lower half of its session range (meaning price spent most of its day near the lows, a sign sellers were in control) after a -1.09% drop, and the range expanded — she moved more than her typical daily distance — which tells us that move had real energy behind it. Our lean tilts modestly bearish (leaning downward) while price stays below 5,760; a reclaim and close back above that level would flip our thinking and open the door for buyers to step back in. 💛 Watch how price behaves around current levels — if she can't push back up with conviction, the path of least resistance may favour another leg lower.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 5,760
NASDAQ moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 29,190 -2.5% Expanded range lower half of range
NASDAQ took a heavy knock last session, dropping 2.5% and closing in the lower half of its range — meaning price settled closer to the day's lows than its highs, which tells us sellers were in control right up to the bell 💛. The range expanded (she moved more than her typical daily distance), which adds weight to that bearish pressure rather than dismissing it as a small blip. Our lean stays cautious and tilted to the downside while price holds beneath 19,600; a recovery back above that level would be the signal that the sellers are losing their grip and we'd need to reassess entirely.
DAX no clear bias
Close: 25,620 +0.94% Normal range mid-range
The DAX had a decent positive session yesterday, closing up nearly 1%, but right now the picture is mixed enough that we don't have a clear lean yet 💛 — price is sitting in the middle of its recent range (not pressing toward the top or bottom), and there are no big news events today to push it decisively in either direction. Watch to see whether the DAX can hold above 25,400 (our key support level — think of it as the floor that's been holding price up); a clean daily close below that level would be the signal that the positive mood has faded and sellers are taking over.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 25,400
BTCUSD no clear bias
Close: 82,020 +0.78% Normal range lower half of range
Bitcoin closed slightly higher last session, but she's sitting in the lower half of her daily range (meaning price drifted closer to the session's low than its high), so there's no clear directional signal to act on just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether she can reclaim the upper half of her range and hold — that would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are stepping back in with confidence. Until then, this is a 'wait and see' moment rather than a leaning-one-way setup.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 80,500
ETHUSD no clear bias
Close: 2409 +0.37% Normal range lower half of range
Ethereum (ETH/USD) is giving us a mixed picture right now — yesterday's session closed just slightly higher, but price is sitting in the lower half of its daily range (meaning it spent most of the day closer to the session's lows than its highs), which keeps things cautious 💛. There's no strong pull in either direction yet, so we're in a 'wait and see' mode — we'd want to see a clear hold and push back above the 2,480 area before leaning bullish (upward), while a continued drift lower would need to find solid support (a floor where buyers step in) to avoid more weakness. No major news events are scheduled to shake things up today, so watch how price behaves around current levels before committing to a direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 2,480

🎯 TFW Recommendation
CPI day for the USD — spreads on USD pairs can widen sharply at release and stops get hunted in both directions. The TFW approach: step back 30 minutes before the number drops and wait for the dust to settle (usually 15–20 minutes after release). Re-assess the chart once the initial candle closes. No need to chase — great setups appear AFTER the volatility, not during it. Think of it like rush hour — the road clears up beautifully once everyone else is done crashing into each other 💛

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
