Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.12 -0.08% Normal range lower half of range
EURUSD (the euro versus the US dollar) is giving us a mixed picture right now — yesterday's session closed just slightly lower and price is sitting in the lower half of its daily range (the space between the session's high and low), but nothing is screaming a clear direction just yet. 💛 We're in a 'wait and see' mode, watching to see whether buyers step in to defend this area or whether price continues to drift — a strong hourly close back above 1.1250 would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are waking up, while continued weakness below current levels keeps the mild downside tilt in play. No major news events are scheduled today, so price action itself will be our guide.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1250
GBPUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.323 -0.2% Normal range mid-range
Cable (our nickname for GBPUSD) is sitting in the middle of its recent range with no big news events on the calendar today, so there's no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. Yesterday's session closed slightly lower, but the move was very small and normal-sized, so we're not reading too much into it — we'd want to see price either climb back above 1.3280 or break down with momentum before leaning one way. For now, think of this as a 'wait and watch' day — let the market show its hand first before getting involved.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3280
USDJPY no clear bias
Close: 158 -0.23% Normal range upper half of range
Dollar-yen is sitting in a bit of a 'wait and see' zone right now — no major news events today and yesterday's move was small, so there's no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether price can hold above 157.20 (a nearby support area where buyers have stepped in before); if it stays above there and buyers show up with strength, a mild upward lean could start to form. For now, we're simply watching rather than leaning hard either way — let the market show its hand first.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 157.20
AUDUSD no clear bias
Close: 0.6978 -0.1% Expanded range near swing LOW
AUD/USD is sitting in a bit of a 'wait and see' moment right now — no major news events today to push it strongly in either direction, and the picture is genuinely mixed 💛. Price dipped slightly last session and is resting near the recent swing low (the last little valley where buyers stepped in), so we want to see how it behaves here before forming a clear lean. A decisive hold and push back above 0.6995 would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are waking up, while continued weakness below that level keeps the door open for more softness.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.6995
USDCAD no clear bias
Close: 1.421 -0.03% Normal range upper half of range
USDCAD is giving us a pretty mixed picture right now 💛 — price closed virtually flat (barely any change) last session, and while it's sitting in the upper half of its daily range (meaning it closed closer to the high than the low), that alone isn't enough to lean confidently in either direction yet. We're watching to see if buyers can hold price above 1.4200 and push with some energy, or if sellers step in and drag it back — a clear close below 1.4180 would tell us the mild upward tilt has faded.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.4180
GBPJPY no clear bias
Close: 209 -0.43% Normal range near swing HIGH
The pound-yen (a pair that blends British and Japanese currency strength) is sitting near the top of its recent range (the zone where price has been bouncing around lately) after a quiet dip last session — so right now we don't have a clear lean in either direction yet. 💛 We'd want to see price either hold firmly above 209.00 and attract fresh buying interest, or slip away from this swing high (the recent peak where sellers have shown up before) to feel confident about a direction. No major news events are scheduled for this pair today, so watch how the market opens and whether buyers or sellers show up with conviction before committing to a side.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 210.50
Gold moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 4170 +1.51% Normal range lower half of range
Gold had a strong session yesterday, closing up +1.51% — that kind of momentum (price moving with real energy in one direction) gives us a moderate bullish lean (leaning upward) heading into today 💛. As long as Gold holds above 3,280, the bias (our general directional lean) stays tilted to the upside, and we'd be watching for any pullback (a dip lower) into that area as a potential area of interest for buyers to step back in. A daily close below 3,280 would flip the picture and open the door for deeper downside — so that's our key level to keep an eye on.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 3,280
Silver moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 56.84 +2.32% Quiet range near swing LOW
Silver closed near the bottom of its recent range (the low end of where price has been bouncing back and forth) after a solid +2.32% gain last session, which tells us buyers stepped in when price got cheap — that's an encouraging sign 💛. With no big news events scheduled today, our bias leans moderately bullish (tilting upward) while price holds above 55.60 — a daily close below that level would tell us the buyers aren't holding the line and we'd want to step back and reassess. If Silver can build momentum from this swing low (the little valley where price last bounced), the next thing to watch is whether she can stretch back toward the middle of her recent range.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 55.60
S&P500 no clear bias
Close: 7744 +0.33% Normal range lower half of range
The S&P 500 nudged up a gentle +0.33% last session, but with price sitting in the lower half of its daily range (meaning it closed closer to the day's lows than its highs), there's no clear signal pointing us firmly in either direction just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers can step in and push price back toward the upper portion of the range — that would start to build a case for a cautiously upward lean. For now, we wait for a bit more confirmation before committing to a directional bias (a view that price favors one direction).
NASDAQ no clear bias
Close: 29,940 -0.05% Expanded range near swing LOW
NASDAQ closed nearly flat yesterday but finished near the low of its session range (the bottom of the price action window), and the day's movement expanded beyond its normal daily distance — so there's a little tension building, though no clear directional story just yet. 💛 We're watching to see whether buyers step in and defend this area, or whether price slips further; a sustained move back above the 20,150 zone would be needed before a bullish lean (an upward tilt) starts to look credible. For now, treat this as a wait-and-watch moment rather than a clear signal in either direction.
DAX no clear bias
Close: 25,380 +0.33% Normal range upper half of range
DAX closed slightly higher with a small gain last session, sitting in the upper half of its daily range — which is mildly encouraging, but not enough on its own to call a clear direction yet. 💛 We're watching to see if price can hold above the 25,200 area (a key support zone, meaning a level where buyers have stepped in before); a strong close above recent highs would be the confirmation we'd want before leaning bullish (upward-tilting). Until then, no strong bias has formed — patience here is a strategy in itself.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 25,200
BTCUSD no clear bias
Close: 82,140 +0.71% Normal range lower half of range
Bitcoin is sitting in a bit of a mixed spot right now — yesterday gave us a small positive close, but price is resting in the lower half of its daily range (meaning it closed closer to the session low than the high), so we don't have a clear directional lean to work with just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers can step in and push price back toward the upper half of the range, which would help build a case for an upside tilt (leaning higher). Until then, no firm bias — just patience and observation.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 80,500
ETHUSD no clear bias
Close: 2440 +0.92% Expanded range lower half of range
ETH closed a little higher last session, but with price sitting in the lower half of the day's range (meaning she finished closer to the bottom than the top of where she traded), there's no clear direction to lean into just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers can push her back above the mid-range area with conviction — that would start to build a case for a gentle upside tilt. For now, bias stays neutral; a drop and close below 2,380 would tell us sellers are firmly in control.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 2,380

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
