Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.12 +0.4% Expanded range lower half of range
EURUSD is sitting in a bit of a mixed spot right now — she closed higher yesterday but ended in the lower half of her session range (meaning price drifted back down after the early push), so we don't have a clear picture yet 💛. We're watching to see whether she can reclaim and hold above 1.1220 with energy before leaning in any direction — a strong acceptance above there would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are stepping back in. No high-impact news is touching this pair today, so let price show you the intention rather than assuming one.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1150
GBPUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.326 +0.36% Expanded range lower half of range
Cable (our nickname for the British pound versus the US dollar) closed slightly higher last session with no major news events on the calendar today, so there's no strong push in either direction just yet 💛. Price is sitting in the lower half of yesterday's range (meaning it gave back some of its gains before the session ended), which keeps the picture a little mixed — we'd want to see buyers step in and push price back above 1.3280 before leaning confidently upward. For now, treat this as a 'wait and watch' moment rather than a clear signal day; if price slips and closes below 1.3200, that mild optimism fades and we'd reassess entirely.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3200
USDJPY no clear bias
Close: 158.3 -0.12% Normal range upper half of range
Dollar-yen is sitting quietly right now — no big news on the calendar today and yesterday's move was barely a ripple, so there's no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether price can hold above 157.60 (a nearby support level, meaning a floor where buyers have stepped in before) and start building momentum — that's what we'd need to see before calling a real directional lean. For now, treat this as a 'wait and watch' session rather than a strong signal day.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 157.60
AUDUSD no clear bias
Close: 0.6985 +0.42% Expanded range lower half of range
The Aussie-dollar had a quiet session with no major news events on the calendar today, so we're in a bit of a 'wait and see' mode right now 💛. Price closed higher yesterday but finished in the lower half of its daily range (meaning it gave back some of those gains before the day ended), which gives us a mixed picture without a clear directional pull yet. Watch for a strong close back above 0.6985 to start forming a lean — until then, we're simply observing and staying patient.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.6985
USDCAD no clear bias
Close: 1.422 -0.45% Expanded range upper half of range
USDCAD (the US dollar versus the Canadian dollar) is giving us a mixed picture right now — yesterday's session closed slightly lower and the move was bigger than usual (the range expanded, meaning price travelled more distance than its typical daily stretch), but price is still sitting in the upper half of that range, so neither side has fully taken control yet 💛. We're in a watch-and-wait moment: a sustained push and close back above 1.4260 would be needed before a bullish lean (favouring the US dollar higher) starts to take shape, while continued softness below current price keeps the mild downside tilt alive. There are no major news events (red folder releases that can shake price hard) on the calendar today, so let price show you its hand before committing to a direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.4260
GBPJPY no clear bias
Close: 209.9 +0.23% Normal range mid-range
The pound-yen closed slightly higher last session but sits mid-range (right in the middle of the day's price spread) with no major news events on the calendar today, so there's no clear directional bias forming just yet 💛. We'd want to see price hold above 208.50 — a recent support level (a floor where buyers have stepped in before) — and push convincingly higher before leaning bullish (expecting upward movement). For now, we're simply watching and waiting for the chart to show its hand.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 208.50
Gold moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 4108 -1.66% Normal range lower half of range
Gold slipped -1.66% last session and closed in the lower half of its daily range (meaning price finished closer to the day's low than its high), which tells us sellers had the upper hand into the close 💛. Our bias (our lean for where price might head next) stays cautiously bearish — meaning tilted downward — while Gold holds below the 3,230 area; a recovery and close back above that level would cancel this lean entirely and put us back to neutral. No big news events are scheduled for Gold today, so watch how price behaves around yesterday's low — if it starts to hold and bounce there, that's worth noting before committing to any trade idea.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 3,230
Silver moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 55.55 -6.1% Normal range near swing LOW
Silver took a heavy -6.10% hit last session (that means she dropped more than six cents on every dollar of value — a sharp move) and closed near the swing low (the last little floor price tried to bounce from), which keeps a mild bearish bias (a lean toward more downside) in play while price stays under the 32.50 area. 💛 If sellers stay in control and Silver can't reclaim that level, the path of least resistance (the direction with fewer obstacles) stays pointed lower for now. A clear daily close back above 32.50 would flip the script and tell us the lean was wrong — that's the level we're watching to invalidate this view.
S&P500 moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 7719 -1.11% Expanded range mid-range
The S&P 500 closed down 1.11% in an expanded session (meaning price moved more than its typical daily distance — a sign that sellers had real conviction), and finishing mid-range tells us bears didn't fully dominate but held enough control to keep the pressure on. 💛 A moderate bearish bias (leaning downward) is in play while price stays below 5,820 — that's the level where this cautious lean flips and we'd reassess entirely. If price can reclaim and hold above 5,820, the downside picture softens; until then, we stay alert for continued softness rather than expecting a recovery.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 5,820
NASDAQ moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 29,950 -2.02% Expanded range lower half of range
NASDAQ closed deep in the lower half of yesterday's range with an expanded session (she moved more than her typical daily distance), which tells us sellers were in control and had real conviction behind that -2% drop. Our bias leans bearish (tilting downward) while price stays below 19,450 — a recovery and close back above that level would tell us the bears have lost their grip and we'd need to reassess. Watch for any follow-through selling in today's session; if she can't reclaim that zone, further downside pressure stays on the table. 💛
DAX no clear bias
Close: 25,300 +0.15% Quiet range mid-range
The DAX closed almost exactly flat yesterday — that tiny +0.15% move means buyers and sellers basically called it a draw — and price is sitting right in the middle of its recent range (neither near the top where sellers often show up, nor near the bottom where buyers often step in). With no high-impact news events on the calendar today and the session running quietly (smaller moves than usual), there's no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. We'd want to see a strong close above recent highs to consider a bullish lean (leaning upward), or a decisive break below 25,150 — the level where this neutral read would be wrong — before tilting bearish (leaning downward).
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 25,150
BTCUSD moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 81,560 -1.84% Normal range lower half of range
Bitcoin closed the last session down nearly 2% and settled in the lower half of its daily range (meaning price finished closer to the day's low than its high), which gives us a moderate bearish lean (tilting downward) heading into today. 💛 While Bitcoin stays below 83,200, the path of least resistance (the direction things are flowing naturally) favors further softness — a push back above that level would tell us sellers are losing control and we'd want to reassess. No big news events are scheduled to shake things up today, so watch how price reacts to any nearby support zones (areas where buyers have stepped in before) for clues on whether sellers stay in charge.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 83,200
ETHUSD moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 2418 -3.14% Expanded range lower half of range
ETH closed the last session down over 3% with an expanded range (meaning she moved more than her typical daily distance), and she settled in the lower half of that range — both signs that sellers were firmly in control 💛. Our moderate bearish bias (leaning downward) stays intact while price holds below 2,500; a reclaim and close back above that level would tell us the picture has shifted and we'd need to reassess. On the downside, watch how ETH reacts around the 2,350–2,380 area — that's a nearby zone where buyers have previously shown up, and how she behaves there will tell us a lot about whether the selling pressure eases.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 2,500

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
