Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.12 -0.46% Normal range near swing LOW
EUR/USD closed the session near its swing low (the lowest point of the day's price movement) with a modest pullback, but the picture isn't clear enough yet to lean confidently in either direction 💛. We'd want to see price hold and push back above 1.1265 before thinking about any upside, or a decisive close beneath current levels to consider a bearish tilt (a downward lean). For now, we're watching and waiting — no strong signal has shown up to commit to a direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1265
GBPUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.321 -0.39% Normal range near swing LOW
Cable (our nickname for GBP/USD) had a quiet but slightly softer session, closing near the bottom of its daily range — though the move was normal-sized (not unusually large), so there's no clear signal just yet. 💛 We're watching to see whether buyers step in here at this swing low (the recent little valley where price bounced before), or whether price slips further — a hold and recovery above 1.3260 would be the first sign bulls are defending this area. No major news events are lined up today, so let price show its hand before committing to a direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3260
USDJPY no clear bias
Close: 158.1 -0.15% Quiet range upper half of range
USD/JPY is sitting in a bit of a wait-and-see moment right now — she closed nearly flat last session with no major news events (high-impact scheduled releases) on the calendar today, so there's no clear push in either direction just yet. 💛 We're watching to see whether price can hold above 157.40; if she slips and closes below that level, the mild upward tilt we're noting disappears and we'd reassess entirely. For now, there's no strong signal to act on — patience is the trade.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 157.40
AUDUSD no clear bias
Close: 0.6964 -0.26% Normal range lower half of range
The Aussie-dollar is giving us a mixed picture right now — no clear edge for bulls or bears just yet. 💛 Price closed near the lower half of its daily range (meaning it spent most of the day drifting toward the bottom rather than the top), but the move was modest and nothing dramatic is pushing it strongly either way. We're watching to see whether price can reclaim 0.6990 — a push back above there would start to shift our attention higher, while continued softness below keeps a cautious eye on the downside.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.6990
USDCAD moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 1.426 +0.32% Normal range upper half of range
USDCAD (the US dollar versus the Canadian dollar) closed the last session up 0.32% and settled in the upper half of its daily range (meaning price finished closer to the session's high than its low), which is a modest sign of buyer strength 💛. While price holds above the 1.4200 level, our bias stays moderately bullish (leaning toward the US dollar staying in charge), with room to probe higher levels in the sessions ahead. A daily close back below 1.4200 would flip this outlook and open the door to a deeper pullback (price sliding back down toward lower ground).
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.4200
GBPJPY no clear bias
Close: 208.9 -0.55% Normal range mid-range
The pound-yen closed yesterday slightly lower and is sitting right in the middle of its recent range (neither near the top nor the bottom), so we don't have a clear picture yet pointing us firmly in one direction. 💛 With no big news events (red-folder events — the high-impact announcements that can shake a pair hard) hitting today, we're in a watch-and-wait moment rather than a moment to lean strongly either way. A sustained move and close back above 210.20 would be the first sign bulls (buyers pushing price up) are regaining control, while continued weakness below yesterday's close keeps the mild downward tilt alive.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 210.20
Gold moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 4216 +1.43% Normal range lower half of range
Gold closed the last session with a strong +1.43% gain (that means she moved up about $60, which is a healthy push higher), so our bias leans bullish (we're favouring the upside) while price holds above the 3,200 area — a close beneath that level would tell us the buyers have lost control and we'd need to reassess. With no major news events (red-folder events are the big scheduled announcements that can shake a market hard) touching Gold today, the environment feels relatively calm, giving the upward momentum (the push she already has going) room to breathe 💛. Watch for price to stay supported above recent lows (the little valleys where buyers stepped back in); if she slips back into the lower half of her daily range and can't recover, that's our early warning sign to stand aside.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 3,200
Silver moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 60.67 +2.72% Quiet range lower half of range
Silver had a strong session yesterday, climbing +2.72% and closing near 30.67 — that kind of push higher tells us buyers (the bulls) showed up with real energy 💛. While price holds above the 29.50 area, our bias leans bullish (meaning we're tilting upward), with room to continue exploring higher ground. A daily close back below 29.50 would flip that picture and tell us the move may have run out of steam.
S&P500 moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 7812 +0.59% Quiet range near swing HIGH
The S&P 500 closed higher last session with a gentle +0.59% gain and is sitting near its recent swing high (the top of its recent price range), which tells us buyers are still showing up and keeping pressure to the upside 💛. With no major news events on the calendar today and price holding strong, a mild bullish bias (a lean toward higher prices) feels reasonable while the index stays above key support — think of that as the floor buyers keep defending. If we were to see a close drop meaningfully below that floor around 5,700, that would tell us the picture has changed and it's time to reassess.
NASDAQ no clear bias
Close: 30,660 -0.71% Quiet range upper half of range
NASDAQ closed a little lower last session and we don't yet have a clear directional lean — it's a mixed picture right now, so we're in watch-and-see mode 💛. For a bullish tilt (leaning upward) to form, we'd want to see price push back above the 31,000 area with conviction; for a bearish lean (leaning downward) to develop, a clean break and hold below the current session lows would be the confirmation we'd need. No clear edge either way just yet — patience is the trade here.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 31,000
DAX no clear bias
Close: 25,090 +1.13% Quiet range mid-range
DAX had a solid green session yesterday — that +1.13% push higher is a nice sign of life — but with price sitting in the middle of its recent range (not near a clear support or resistance level that's been tested) and today's movement being quieter than usual, there's no strong signal yet pointing clearly up or down. 💛 We're in a watch-and-wait moment: if DAX can hold above 24,850 (the level where yesterday's strength would start to look like a false move) and push toward the upper end of its recent range, that would start to build a case for buyers being in control. For now, no clear bias has formed — we'd want to see price prove itself before leaning in either direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 24,850
BTCUSD no clear bias
Close: 83,680 +0.93% Quiet range lower half of range
Bitcoin is sitting quietly right now — no clear push in either direction yet, and we're watching to see which side takes control 💛. Price closed in the lower half of its recent range (meaning it settled closer to the bottom of where it's been trading, not near the top), so we'd want to see buyers step in and push back above yesterday's close around 83,680 before leaning upward with any confidence. For now, the healthiest move is to wait and watch — no strong signal has formed yet, and patience here is a real edge.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 83,680
ETHUSD no clear bias
Close: 2535 +1.23% Normal range near swing LOW
ETH is sitting near the swing low (the last little price valley where buyers stepped in before) after a modest green close, so we don't have a clear directional bias just yet 💛. We'd want to see price hold above the 2,480 area and start pushing toward 2,580+ before leaning bullish (upward-tilting) with more confidence — a clean close below 2,480 would open the door to more downside pressure instead. For now, watch how price reacts at this low area rather than rushing to pick a direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 2,480

Inflation data (CPI, PPI, PCE) — markets care deeply because high or low inflation changes rate expectations. TFW tip: step back 15 minutes around the release on relevant currency pairs. CPI day for the USD — spreads on USD pairs can widen sharply at release and stops get hunted in both directions. The TFW approach: step back 30 minutes before the number drops and wait for the dust to settle (usually 15–20 minutes after release). Re-assess the chart once the initial candle closes. No need to chase — great setups appear AFTER the volatility, not during it. Think of it like rush hour — the road clears up beautifully once everyone else is done crashing into each other 💛

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
