Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.137 -0.06% Normal range near swing LOW
EURUSD is sitting close to the bottom of yesterday's range (the low end of where price traded) after a quiet, nearly flat session — so right now there's no clear push in either direction, and we're watching for confirmation before leaning one way. If buyers step in here and price reclaims 1.1420 (the level where our cautious lean would be wrong), that would be the first sign of strength worth paying attention to. For now, we're in a wait-and-see mode — no major news is scheduled today to shake things loose, so patience is your best tool 💛
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1420
GBPUSD moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 1.324 -0.76% Quiet range near swing LOW
Cable (our nickname for the British pound vs the US dollar) closed the last session down 0.76% and is sitting near its swing low — the last little valley price bounced from — which tells us sellers have been in control recently. 💛 Our bias (leaning direction) stays cautiously bearish (downward-tilting) while price holds below 1.3310; a clear close back above that level would flip the picture and we'd want to reassess. No major news events are scheduled today, so watch for whether buyers step in to defend this low or let it crack further.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3310
USDJPY moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 158.3 +0.51% Normal range upper half of range
The dollar-yen closed in the upper half of its daily range (meaning price settled closer to the session's high than its low) with a modest gain on the day — a mild sign that buyers are keeping control 💛. Bias leans bullish (tilted upward) while price holds above 157.20; a daily close beneath that level would tell us the move has stalled and we'd step back and reassess. No high-impact news events are scheduled for this pair today, so watch for price to either build on yesterday's strength or quietly consolidate (rest in a tight zone) before the next directional push.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 157.20
AUDUSD moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 0.7034 -1.1% Normal range near swing LOW
The Aussie (AUD/USD — how many US dollars one Australian dollar buys) closed the last session down 1.10% and is sitting near its swing low (the recent lowest point price reached before bouncing), which tells us sellers have been in control lately. Our moderate bearish bias (leaning downward) stays in place while price holds below the 0.6380 area — a reclaim and close back above that level would be the signal that this lean is wrong and we'd step back to reassess. 💛 No big news events are scheduled for today, so any move will likely be driven by price action alone — watch to see whether buyers defend this swing low or price slides quietly lower.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.6380
USDCAD moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 1.41 +0.28% Normal range near swing HIGH
USDCAD (the US dollar versus the Canadian dollar) closed the last session near the top of its range (the distance price traveled that day), with a modest green finish and no big news events on the calendar today to shake things up — so the path of least resistance (the direction that feels easiest to continue) looks mildly higher from here 💛. Our bullish bias (leaning upward) stays intact while price holds above 1.3980; a clean daily close below that level would tell us the strength has faded and we'd want to step back and reassess. If you're watching this pair, look for price to stay supported (held up, not dropping) near the recent highs before committing to any read.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3980
GBPJPY no clear bias
Close: 209.5 -0.28% Normal range lower half of range
The pound-yen is giving us a bit of a mixed picture right now — no strong signal pointing clearly up or down just yet, so we're in a 'wait and see' mode 💛. Price closed in the lower half of yesterday's range (meaning it finished closer to the day's low than its high), which is a small hint of softness, but not enough on its own to call a clear direction. Watch to see if buyers step in and push price back above 210.80, which would start to build a case for upside; a continued drift lower from here would be the first sign bears may be taking control.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 210.80
Gold no clear bias
Close: 4298 -0.47% Quiet range near swing LOW
Gold closed just a touch lower last session and is sitting near the bottom of its recent range (the lowest prices it's been bouncing around), so we don't have a clear lean just yet 💛 We're watching to see whether buyers step in and defend this area — if they do and price pushes back above 3,330, that would start to build a more bullish case (leaning upward). For now, with no major news events today, we're in wait-and-see mode rather than committing to a direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 3,330
Silver no clear bias
Close: 63.46 -1.44% Quiet range lower half of range
Silver had a softer session yesterday, closing down and sitting in the lower half of its recent range (the price window it's been moving inside), but there's no clear tilt yet to act on 💛. The session was quiet — Silver didn't stretch much beyond her usual daily distance — so we want to see whether buyers step in here or price continues to drift before forming a lean. Watch for a decisive move: a strong push back above 64.20 would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are waking up, while continued softness below keeps the picture cautious.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 64.20
S&P500 no clear bias
Close: 7704 -0.03% Normal range near swing HIGH
The S&P 500 closed virtually flat last session with no strong push in either direction, so right now we don't have a clear bias yet — we're watching for confirmation before leaning one way. Price is sitting near a recent swing high (the top of a recent up-move), which means the market could either break through and extend higher or pull back from that resistance (a ceiling price keeps bumping into). Keep an eye on whether buyers step in to hold current levels — a sustained move above the swing high would be the first sign worth paying attention to. 💛
NASDAQ moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 30,480 +0.03% Normal range near swing HIGH
NASDAQ closed near the top of its recent range (the high end of where price has been bouncing around), which tells us buyers are quietly in control right now 💛. A mild bullish bias (leaning upward) stays in play while we hold above 20,180 — that's the last swing low (the little valley price bounced up from) that would need to break before this picture changes. If we dip and close below that level, the upward lean is off the table and we'd want to step back and reassess before doing anything.
DAX no clear bias
Close: 25,270 -0.57% Normal range lower half of range
DAX is sitting in a bit of a wait-and-see spot right now — no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. Yesterday closed slightly lower and price settled in the lower half of its daily range (meaning sellers had a little more say by the close), but there's not enough here yet to call a firm lean. Watch to see whether DAX can reclaim 25,400 for any upside interest, or whether continued pressure below that level opens the door to further softness.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 25,400
BTCUSD no clear bias
Close: 84,030 -0.41% Normal range upper half of range
Bitcoin is sitting in a bit of a 'wait and see' moment right now — we don't have a clear directional lean yet, and we want to see more before committing to a direction 💛. If price can hold above the 82,500 area (the key support level where buyers have stepped in recently) and push back toward 85,000 and beyond, that's when a bullish bias (a lean upward) could start to form. On the flip side, a daily close below 82,500 would open the door to more downside pressure, so that's the level we're watching closely.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 82,500
ETHUSD no clear bias
Close: 2690 +0.12% Normal range upper half of range
ETH is sitting in a genuinely mixed spot right now — she closed nearly flat with a tiny gain and no big news on the calendar today, so there's no clear directional signal yet to act on 💛. We'd want to see her hold and push convincingly above the upper range (roughly the 2,720–2,730 area) before leaning bullish (upward-tilting), or a clear drop and close below 2,620 before considering a bearish (downward) lean. For now, patience is your edge — watch how price behaves around current levels and let the market show her hand first.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 2,620

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
