Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.158 -0.03% Expanded range near swing HIGH
Euro-dollar is sitting in an interesting spot right now — no clear push in either direction just yet, so we're watching rather than leaning 💛. Price closed near the top of its recent range (the high end of where it's been trading), but with such a tiny move last session, there's no strong signal telling us which way she wants to go next. Keep an eye on whether price holds above 1.1520 — a daily close below that level would shift our thinking and open the door to a softer, more cautious outlook.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1520
GBPUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.354 -0.1% Expanded range upper half of range
Cable (the British pound vs the US dollar) closed yesterday almost flat with a tiny dip of just 0.10%, and there's no big news scheduled today that could shake things up — so right now the picture is pretty mixed with no clear direction yet 💛. Price did close in the upper half of yesterday's range (meaning it held closer to the highs than the lows), which is a small hint that buyers are still around, but we'd want to see Cable hold above 1.3490 and push with some energy before leaning confidently upward. Watch for price to stay firm above that 1.3490 area — a clear close below it would tell us the mild strength has faded and we'd step back and reassess.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3490
USDJPY no clear bias
Close: 159.6 +0.13% Normal range lower half of range
Dollar-yen is sitting in a bit of a wait-and-see spot right now — yesterday's session barely moved (just +0.13%), and price is hanging in the lower half of its daily range, so there's no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. We'd want to see price hold above 159.00 (the level where a drop below would tell us sellers are taking control) and then start climbing back toward the upper part of the range before any upward lean becomes meaningful. For now, we're watching rather than leaning — no strong signal has shown up yet to commit to a direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 159.00
AUDUSD no clear bias
Close: 0.7082 -0.38% Normal range near swing HIGH
Aussie-dollar is sitting close to the top of yesterday's range (the high-to-low zone price moved through), but with no major news events today and no clear momentum building, we don't have a strong signal pulling us in either direction just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether price holds near this recent swing high (the peak price has been bouncing from) or quietly slips lower — a clean push and close above the recent high would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are taking charge, while a drift back toward the mid-range keeps things murky. Until one of those clues shows up, this is more of a 'wait and see' moment than a 'lean hard' one.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.6420
USDCAD no clear bias
Close: 1.39 +0.2% Expanded range lower half of range
USDCAD is sitting in a genuinely mixed spot right now — yesterday gave us a tiny green close with no major news events pushing it either way, so we don't have a clear enough signal yet to lean strongly in either direction 💛. We're watching to see whether price can hold above 1.3870 (the level where our current cautious lean would be wrong) and push back toward the upper part of yesterday's range; a clean move back above that zone would be the first clue that buyers are stepping in. Until we see that confirmation, the healthiest approach is to stay patient and wait rather than guess.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3870
GBPJPY no clear bias
Close: 216 +0.03% Quiet range upper half of range
The pound-yen closed nearly flat with just a +0.03% nudge, and her session range (the distance she travelled top to bottom) came in quieter than her average — so right now there's no clear bias forming yet 💛. She's sitting in the upper half of her recent range, which is a small positive sign, but we'd want to see a decisive push and close above recent highs before calling this a true bullish lean (leaning upward). Watch for price to hold above 214.50 — a close below that level would tell us the mild upward tilt is off the table and we need to reassess.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 214.50
Gold no clear bias
Close: 4366 -1.17% Normal range near swing HIGH
Gold had a rough session yesterday, slipping about 1.2% and closing near the top of its recent range (the upper boundary of where price has been trading lately) — so we don't have a clear lean just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether sellers follow through and push price lower, or whether buyers step back in and defend current levels; neither side has shown their hand convincingly. No big scheduled news events are pressing on Gold today, so patience is the move — let the market show you a direction before committing.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 3,370
Silver moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 63.94 -3.3% Normal range near swing HIGH
Silver closed the last session down sharply — dropping more than 3% — which tells us sellers showed up with real conviction, and she closed near her session high (the top of the day's price bar) rather than recovering fully, leaving a bit of a warning sign overhead 💛. Our moderate bearish lean (leaning toward lower prices) stays in place while Silver holds below the 33.20 area; a daily close back above that level would cancel this lean and suggest buyers have regained control. If the pressure continues, we'd be watching for the next cluster of support (a price floor where buyers have stepped in before) to tell us whether this is a brief dip or something deeper.
S&P500 no clear bias
Close: 7692 -0.69% Quiet range upper half of range
The S&P 500 dipped modestly last session and we don't yet have a clear directional lean — the picture is mixed enough that we'd want to see price give us more information before committing either way. 💛 If the index holds above recent support (the floor where buyers have been stepping in) and reclaims higher ground, a mild bullish bias (leaning upward) could develop; a decisive close below 5,650 would be the sign that sellers are gaining the upper hand. For now, patience is your edge — no clear bias, no rush.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 5,780
NASDAQ no clear bias
Close: 29,430 -0.22% Normal range upper half of range
NASDAQ is sitting in a bit of a mixed spot right now — yesterday's dip was small (just -0.22%, nothing dramatic) and price closed in the upper half of its daily range (meaning sellers didn't fully take over by the end of the session), so there's no clear directional story yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers step back in and push price higher, or whether sellers build more momentum from here — neither side has made a convincing case. No major news events are scheduled today, so the best move is to wait for a clearer signal rather than guessing which way she wants to go.
DAX no clear bias
Close: 26,130 -0.8% Quiet range upper half of range
DAX closed yesterday with a modest dip of 0.80%, and right now we don't have a clear directional lean — the session was quiet (meaning price moved less than its usual daily distance), so we're not seeing a strong signal in either direction yet 💛. What we'd want to watch for is whether DAX can push back above 26,350 to suggest buyers (bulls, the ones hoping for higher prices) are stepping back in — if that happens, a more confident upward lean could form. For now, patience is our friend; no major news events are scheduled to shake things up today, so let price show us its hand before committing to a direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 26,350
BTCUSD moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 64,680 +0.27% Normal range near swing HIGH
Bitcoin closed near the top of its session range (the high point of the day's price action), which tells us buyers are in control heading into today — so our bias leans bullish (upward leaning) while price holds above 63,200 💛. That level is where the recent structure (the staircase of higher lows buyers have been defending) would start to break down, and a daily close below it would flip our thinking to neutral. With no high-impact news events today, we're watching for Bitcoin to continue building on yesterday's quiet strength, but as always, let price confirm before acting.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 63,200
ETHUSD no clear bias
Close: 1916 +0.22% Normal range upper half of range
Ethereum (ETH/USD) is sitting quietly right now — yesterday's tiny gain and a normal-sized session don't yet give us a clear push in either direction to act on. 💛 We're watching to see whether price can hold above the 1,880 area (a nearby support shelf, meaning a price zone where buyers have stepped in before); if it does and momentum (the strength behind the move) starts building, a mild upward tilt could develop. For now, the honest read is no clear bias yet — let's wait for a stronger signal before leaning either way.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 1,880

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
