Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.153 -0.12% Quiet range near swing HIGH
Euro-dollar is sitting near the top of its recent range (the highest prices it's visited lately) after a very small dip yesterday — no clear direction has formed just yet 💛. Today has no major news events scheduled that could shake things up, and price is moving quietly (less distance than its usual daily habit), so we're in wait-and-see mode rather than leaning strongly either way. Watch for whether price holds above 1.1480 — a clean close below that level would tell us the swing high (that ceiling where sellers tend to show up) has rejected price and a deeper pullback could open up.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1480
GBPUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.35 -0.09% Quiet range near swing HIGH
Cable (our nickname for the British pound versus the US dollar) closed almost flat last session with no major news events on the calendar today, so there's no clear directional push to lean on just yet 💛. Price is sitting near the top of its recent range, which means we're watching to see whether buyers can hold this area and push higher, or whether it quietly fades — a clear daily close above the recent highs would be the first sign bulls are in control, while a slip back under 1.3480 would tell us the high is likely in for now. For the moment, this is a 'wait and see' setup rather than one to act on.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3480
USDJPY no clear bias
Close: 159.3 +0.04% Quiet range mid-range
Dollar-yen is sitting quietly in the middle of its recent range (the space between the session's high and low), with almost no movement last session — so right now there's no clear push in either direction to act on 💛. We'd want to see price make a decisive move and close above recent highs before leaning upward, or a break and close below 158.50 (the level where this mild upward tilt would be wrong) to consider a downside scenario. For now, patience is your best tool — let price show its hand first.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 158.50
AUDUSD no clear bias
Close: 0.7064 +0% Quiet range upper half of range
The Aussie-dollar (AUDUSD) is sitting quietly right now — price barely moved last session and there's no big news event on the calendar today, so we don't have a clear signal to lean in either direction just yet 💛. We'd want to see price hold above 0.7020 (our line in the sand — if it closes below there, even this cautious positive tilt goes away) and then push with some energy before calling it a bullish (upward-leaning) setup. For now, watch and wait — let the pair show its hand before committing.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.7020
USDCAD no clear bias
Close: 1.394 +0.15% Quiet range lower half of range
USDCAD (the US dollar versus the Canadian dollar) is sitting in a quiet, no-clear-bias-yet zone right now — yesterday's tiny +0.15% nudge higher and the pair resting in the lower half of its recent range don't yet give us enough to lean confidently in either direction. 💛 We'd want to see price hold and push back above the 1.3940 area with some energy before a bullish lean (upward tilt) starts to build; a slip and close below 1.3900 would tell us the sellers are in control instead. For now, patience is the trade — wait for the market to show her hand before committing.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3900
GBPJPY no clear bias
Close: 215 -0.05% Quiet range mid-range
The pound-yen closed almost exactly flat last session — just a whisper of a move — and is sitting right in the middle of its daily range (the distance between yesterday's high and low), which tells us neither the buyers nor the sellers are really in charge right now 💛. With no big news events (red folder = high-impact economic announcements) scheduled today to shake things up, we're in a wait-and-see moment rather than a clear directional setup. Watch for price to commit above 216.50 or below recent lows before forming a lean — until then, patience is the trade.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 216.50
Gold moderate bear (2/4)
Close: 4364 -1.03% Expanded range near swing HIGH
Gold slid over 1% last session and closed with an expanded range (she moved more than her typical daily distance), which tells us sellers showed up with some real conviction. The bias leans bearish (tilting downward) while Gold stays below the recent swing high — a clean hold beneath that area keeps the door open for further softness toward the next support zone (a price floor where buyers have stepped in before). That said, if price reclaims and closes back above 3,370, this whole bearish lean gets cancelled and we'd go back to neutral to reassess 💛.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 3,370
Silver no clear bias
Close: 64.87 -1.04% Quiet range upper half of range
Silver is giving us a bit of a mixed picture right now — she slipped about 1% last session but is still sitting in the upper half of her recent range (meaning price is closer to the top of her usual zone than the bottom), so there's no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. We'd want to see her hold above recent support and reclaim some momentum before leaning bullish (upward-leaning), or break down convincingly before leaning bearish (downward-leaning) — for now, we're in watch-and-wait mode. No big news events are touching Silver today, so let price show you the next move first.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 65.80
S&P500 moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 7799 +0.65% Quiet range near swing HIGH
The S&P 500 closed near the top of its recent range (the upper edge of where price has been hanging out lately) with a solid green session yesterday — that's a gentle nudge toward a bullish bias (leaning upward) while price holds above 5,650 💛. The session was quiet in terms of range expansion (price didn't travel an unusually large distance), which often means the market is coiling — building energy — rather than exhausting itself at the highs. If we see a daily close below 5,650, that lean flips and we'd want to step back and reassess before assuming any further upside.
NASDAQ moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 26,800 +0.81% Quiet range near swing HIGH
NASDAQ closed near the top of its recent range (the highest prices it has visited lately) with a solid green session, which tells us buyers are still showing up with confidence 💛. Our bias leans bullish (tilting upward) while price holds above 26,400 — that's the level where this positive picture would start to look less convincing. A quiet day with no big news events means we watch for follow-through; if price slips and closes below 26,400, that lean flips and we reassess rather than assume the climb continues.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 26,400
DAX no clear bias
Close: 26,300 -0.12% Normal range near swing HIGH
DAX is sitting close to its recent swing high (the highest point price has reached before pulling back) after a nearly flat session, so there's no clear directional bias just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers step in and push a clean break above that swing high — if that happens, a mild bullish lean (leaning upward) could begin to form. Until then, a drop and close below 26,100 would tell us sellers are gaining control and this quiet pause was actually a warning sign.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 26,100
BTCUSD no clear bias
Close: 63,400 +0% Normal range lower half of range
Bitcoin is sitting in a bit of a wait-and-see moment right now — no strong push from buyers or sellers yet, and yesterday's session closed almost exactly where it opened, which tells us neither side is firmly in control 💛. We'd want to see price either hold above 64,200 (that would start to build a case for the bulls) or slip and close convincingly below the current range low before committing to a direction. For now, patience is your best trade — let Bitcoin show you which way she wants to go before stepping in.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 64,200
ETHUSD no clear bias
Close: 1884 +0.31% Normal range lower half of range
Ethereum (ETH/USD) is giving us a bit of a mixed picture right now — she closed slightly higher last session, but she's sitting in the lower half of her daily range (meaning price is closer to the session low than the session high), which keeps things uncertain. No major news events are scheduled today, so there's no obvious catalyst pushing her in either direction just yet. We're in a watch-and-see mode here — a sustained move and close back above the 1,920 area would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are stepping back in with confidence.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 1,920

CPI day for the USD — spreads on USD pairs can widen sharply at release and stops get hunted in both directions. The TFW approach: step back 30 minutes before the number drops and wait for the dust to settle (usually 15–20 minutes after release). Re-assess the chart once the initial candle closes. No need to chase — great setups appear AFTER the volatility, not during it. Think of it like rush hour — the road clears up beautifully once everyone else is done crashing into each other 💛

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
