Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.152 -0.28% Normal range near swing HIGH
Euro-dollar (the exchange rate between the euro and the US dollar) is sitting right near the top of its recent range — that high area where sellers have shown up before — so we don't have a clear bias just yet either way. 💛 We'd want to see price push through and hold above 1.1560 before leaning bullish (upward), or slip back toward the middle of the range to start watching for a softer tone. For now, this is a 'wait and see' moment rather than a trade setup — no folder events (big scheduled news releases) today, so any move would need to come from price action itself telling us which side is in control.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1560
GBPUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.346 -0.11% Normal range upper half of range
Cable (our nickname for the British pound vs the US dollar) closed slightly lower last session but held in the upper half of its daily range, so there's no strong pull in either direction just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether price can hold above 1.3400 — that's the level where a drop below would tell us buyers are losing their grip and we'd need to reassess. No big news events are hitting today, so we're in a 'wait and see' mode — looking for price to show us its hand before leaning one way or the other.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3400
USDJPY no clear bias
Close: 158.4 +0.51% Normal range lower half of range
The dollar-yen is sitting in a bit of a wait-and-see spot right now — there's no clear directional pull strong enough to lean into just yet. 💛 Price closed slightly higher last session but is sitting in the lower half of its recent range (meaning it's closer to where sellers were active, not buyers), so we'd want to see it reclaim and hold above 158.80 before any upside lean starts to take shape. No major news events are scheduled today, so watch how price behaves around current levels for clues on which side is gaining control.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 157.80
AUDUSD no clear bias
Close: 0.7033 -0.34% Normal range near swing HIGH
The Aussie-dollar is sitting in a bit of a wait-and-see spot right now — no high-impact news on the calendar today and yesterday's tiny dip didn't give us a clear signal in either direction 💛. We're watching to see whether price holds near this swing high (the recent peak where sellers last showed up) or starts to fade away from it; a firm move and daily close back above 0.6980 would be needed before a real directional lean forms. For now, there's no clear bias, so patience is your best tool.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.6980
USDCAD no clear bias
Close: 1.401 +0.03% Expanded range near swing LOW
USDCAD is sitting in a genuinely mixed spot right now — yesterday's session barely moved (+0.03%, almost flat), so we don't have a strong directional push to lean on just yet 💛. Price is near the swing low (the last little valley where price bounced before) after an expanded range session (meaning price moved more than its usual daily distance), which could mean exhaustion in either direction — we'd want to see a clear hold or break before committing to a lean. Watch for price to reclaim 1.4065 with conviction for any bullish tilt (leaning upward) to form, or a continued close beneath current levels to open a bearish case (leaning downward).
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.4065
GBPJPY no clear bias
Close: 213.1 +0.41% Normal range lower half of range
The pound-yen is sitting in the lower half of yesterday's range (the space between the day's high and low price) after a quiet, slightly positive session — so right now there's no clear tilt in either direction worth acting on yet. 💛 We'd want to see the pair reclaim and hold above the mid-range area with some momentum before leaning bullish (upward-leaning), or a clean break and close below 212.00 to open up a bearish (downward) conversation. For now, patience is the trade — we're simply watching for confirmation before committing to a side.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 212.00
Gold moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 4242 -0.09% Normal range near swing HIGH
Gold closed right near its swing high (the recent peak price has been bouncing around), and even though yesterday's move was nearly flat, holding up at these elevated levels with no major news events (red folder events — the high-impact scheduled announcements that can shake price hard) today keeps a moderately bullish bias (a gentle lean upward) intact 💛. While Gold stays above 3,200, the path of least resistance (the direction price seems most comfortable drifting) favours the bulls — a daily close below that level, though, would flip the picture and open the door to a deeper pullback (a slide back down to find support, or a floor where buyers step in). Watch for price to either push to a fresh high from here or, if sellers show up, respect that 3,200 line as your key checkpoint.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 3,200
Silver no clear bias
Close: 61.44 -1.06% Quiet range upper half of range
Silver had a quiet session yesterday with no big swings, and right now there's no clear lean forming yet — we're watching to see which side takes control before calling a direction. If Silver can hold above the 32.50 area (our key reference level where buyers would need to show up) and start pushing higher, that's what we'd want to see for a bullish lean (upward tilt) to develop. For now, patience is our best tool — no red folder news (big scheduled announcements) today means price action itself will be our guide. 💛
S&P500 no clear bias
Close: 7710 -0.18% Quiet range near swing HIGH
The S&P 500 closed near its recent swing high (the highest point price has reached before pulling back) with very little movement last session — so right now there's no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers hold price up here and push through, or whether sellers step in and nudge us lower — a clean daily close above the current highs would be the first sign of a bullish tilt (leaning upward), while a drop back below 5,550 would tell us the picture has shifted and we'd need to reassess.
NASDAQ no clear bias
Close: 26,350 -0.06% Quiet range near swing HIGH
NASDAQ closed the last session almost flat — barely a whisper of movement — so right now there's no clear bias forming yet, and we're watching to see which side steps up first 💛. Price is sitting near the top of its recent range (the high end of where it's been bouncing back and forth), which means buyers have held the high ground, but we'd want to see a convincing push and hold above current levels before leaning in any direction. Keep an eye on 26,100 — a close below that level (meaning the candle finishes the day under it, not just a quick dip) would be the signal that the picture has shifted.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 26,100
DAX no clear bias
Close: 26,140 +0.05% Quiet range near swing HIGH
DAX is holding near its recent swing high (the highest point price reached before pausing) after a practically flat close, so there's no clear directional edge to lean on just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers can push through and hold above current levels with conviction, or whether price slips back — a strong daily close above 26,200 would be the first signal a bullish bias (leaning upward) is building. Until then, we treat this as a 'wait and see' zone, with 25,900 as the level that would tell us the picture has shifted and a deeper pullback (a move back down to find support) may be underway.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 25,900
BTCUSD no clear bias
Close: 64,900 +0.04% Quiet range mid-range
Bitcoin closed virtually flat (almost no movement from open to close) last session and is sitting right in the middle of its recent price range — not leaning clearly up or down just yet. 💛 The session was quiet (price moved less than its typical daily distance), so we don't have a strong signal to work with right now. We'd want to see price push and hold above 66,500 before leaning bullish (upward), or a clear close below 63,200 before considering a bearish (downward) tilt — until then, this is a wait-and-watch moment.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 66,500 or below 63,200
ETHUSD no clear bias
Close: 1916 +0.12% Quiet range mid-range
Ethereum (ETH/USD) is giving us a pretty quiet, undecided picture right now, honey — price closed nearly flat at $1,916 with almost no real movement, and she's sitting right in the middle of her recent range (the space between the highs and lows she's been bouncing around in), so neither the buyers nor the sellers have shown their hand yet 💛. There's no major news event on the calendar today to shake things up, so we're in a 'wait and see' moment — the bias (our lean) only starts tilting upward if ETH can hold above $1,880 and begin pushing toward the top of the range; a clean close below $1,880 would be the signal that the bears (sellers) are taking control. For now, we're watching, not committing — let price show you which direction she wants to go before stepping in.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1,880

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
