Market Overview — Prev Session

Today's AI lean (educational only): ◀ bearish  ·  neutral  ·  bullish ▶ — further from centre = stronger conviction very strong bear    moderate bear    neutral    moderate bull    very strong bull
EURUSD moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 1.156 +0.22% Normal range near swing HIGH
Euro-dollar closed near the top of yesterday's range (the highest point price reached during the day), and with no big news events — called red folder events, meaning high-impact announcements — scheduled today, the pair has room to breathe and potentially push a little higher 💛. Our moderate bullish bias (leaning upward) stays intact while price holds above 1.1480; a clear close below that level would tell us the buyers have lost control and we'd want to step back and reassess. Keep position sizes sensible and let price confirm the move before committing — strength near the high needs to be respected, not chased.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.1480
GBPUSD no clear bias
Close: 1.347 +0.14% Quiet range upper half of range
Cable (our nickname for GBP/USD) is sitting in no-clear-bias territory right now — yesterday's session was nearly flat and price movement was quiet (smaller than its usual daily range), so there's no strong signal to lean on just yet 💛. We'd want to see price push above and hold recent highs to consider a bullish case (leaning upward), or a close back below 1.3420 to open the door for sellers. For now, patience is the trade — watch how price reacts at the edges of this quiet range before committing to a direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.3420
USDJPY no clear bias
Close: 157.6 -0.06% Quiet range lower half of range
USD/JPY is sitting quietly right now — no big news events on the calendar today and price barely moved last session, so there's no clear signal pushing us in either direction just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers step in to defend this area or whether price starts to drift lower toward recent support (a price level where buyers have shown up before); a push back above 158.20 would start to tilt things more bullish (leaning upward), while continued softness below current levels could open the door for a deeper look lower. For now, this pair is in a 'let's wait and see' moment — no clear bias has formed yet.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 158.20
AUDUSD no clear bias
Close: 0.7057 +0.15% Quiet range upper half of range
The Aussie-dollar (AUDUSD) closed slightly higher last session and is sitting in the upper half of its recent range (the zone between the highest and lowest prices over the past stretch), but the move was quiet — smaller than its usual daily distance — so there's no strong push in either direction just yet. 💛 We're watching to see whether price can hold above 0.7040 and build some momentum, or whether it fades back toward that area before we get a clearer picture. No major news events are scheduled for this pair today, so the pair may stay in a slow drift — keep an eye on whether any energy picks up before leaning one way.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 0.7020
USDCAD no clear bias
Close: 1.401 -0.39% Normal range lower half of range
USDCAD (that's how many Canadian dollars one US dollar buys) is giving us a mixed picture right now — no clear direction has formed just yet 💛. Price slipped a little last session and is sitting in the lower half of its daily range (meaning it closed closer to the day's bottom than the top), but there's nothing strong enough yet to confidently lean one way or the other. We're watching to see whether price holds above 1.3980 and pushes back through 1.4055 — that would be the first sign bulls (buyers) are stepping back in — or whether it keeps drifting lower, which would open up a bearish lean (tilting downward) toward the next support zone (a price floor where buyers have shown up before).
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1.4055
GBPJPY no clear bias
Close: 212.3 +0.08% Quiet range lower half of range
The pound-yen closed virtually flat last session with a tiny +0.08% move, and price is sitting in the lower half of its recent range (the band between the session's high and low) — so there's no clear directional signal to act on just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether buyers step in and push a close back above the mid-range area, which would be the first sign a mild upward lean is forming. Until that happens, the healthiest approach is simply to wait and watch rather than guess a direction.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 211.50
Gold moderate bull (2/4)
Close: 4242 -0.09% Normal range near swing HIGH
Gold closed essentially flat with only a tiny dip last session, and she's sitting near the top of her recent range (the high end of where price has been moving back and forth) — that kind of position tends to favour the buyers while she holds above 3,200 💛. Bias stays moderately bullish (leaning upward) as long as price keeps closing above that level; a clean daily close below 3,200 would tell us the momentum has shifted and we'd want to step back and reassess. With no high-impact news events scheduled today, watch for any quiet continuation higher, but always remember price can surprise us — no outcome is ever certain.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: below 3,200
Silver no clear bias
Close: 61.44 -1.06% Quiet range upper half of range
Silver had a quietly soft session yesterday, slipping just over 1% — nothing dramatic, but the mild dip does give us a slight tilt to watch. Right now there's no clear bias forming yet; we'd want to see Silver hold and push back above recent highs to consider a bullish lean (upward tilt), or break down from current levels to confirm sellers are really in control. 💛 For now, patience is your best tool — watch how price behaves at current levels before committing to a directional idea.
S&P500 no clear bias
Close: 7710 -0.18% Quiet range near swing HIGH
The S&P 500 is sitting near its recent swing high (the top of the price range it's been trading in) after a nearly flat session yesterday — no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. We don't have a strong lean to call right now; what we'd want to see is a decisive move and close above the current swing high to consider a bullish tilt (leaning upward), or a slip back below recent support (the floor price has bounced from before) to shift our thinking the other way. No high-impact news events are scheduled today, so watch for whether buyers or sellers show up with conviction before making any decisions.
NASDAQ no clear bias
Close: 29,370 -0.39% Normal range near swing HIGH
NASDAQ closed slightly lower last session with no major news events on the calendar today, so we don't have a strong lean just yet — the picture is a little mixed 💛. We're watching to see whether price can hold near its recent swing high (that upper boundary where sellers have shown up before) or starts to fade lower; a confirmed push and hold above recent highs would open the door to a more bullish bias (leaning upward), while a drop and close below the 19,200 area would be the first sign bears (sellers) are taking control. For now, we're in wait-and-see mode — no clear directional edge until price shows its hand.
DAX no clear bias
Close: 26,140 +0.05% Quiet range near swing HIGH
DAX is sitting near the top of its recent range (the upper edge of the zone price has been bouncing between), but with barely any movement last session and no big news events today, there's no clear push in either direction just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether price can hold this area and show some buying follow-through — if it does, a mild upward lean could develop, but right now we'd rather wait for confirmation before committing to a direction. If DAX were to close back below 25,900, that would tell us sellers have stepped in and this whole picture would need a fresh look.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 25,900
BTCUSD no clear bias
Close: 64,260 -0.52% Quiet range mid-range
Bitcoin is sitting mid-range (right in the middle of its recent high-to-low zone) after a quiet, unremarkable session — no big push up or down, and no major news events on the calendar today to shake things up 💛. With price neither pressing against a key ceiling nor bouncing off strong support (a floor price keeps coming back to), there's no clear tilt in either direction right now. We'd want to see Bitcoin either push and hold above 66,500 or break and close below 62,800 before leaning one way — until then, watching patiently is the smart play.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: above 66,500 or below 62,800
ETHUSD no clear bias
Close: 1902 -0.23% Quiet range mid-range
Ethereum (ETH/USD) is sitting quietly in the middle of its recent range (the zone between the recent high and low prices), with almost no movement last session — that kind of stillness doesn't give us a clear directional clue just yet 💛. We're watching to see whether price can hold above the 1,880 area (our key support — the level where buyers have stepped in before); a clean daily close below there would open the door to a bearish lean (a tilt lower). Until we get a decisive push in either direction, it's a 'wait and watch' moment — no rush, no forced trade.
⚠️ Lean invalidated if: 1,880

📖 Trading terms explained — tap to open

New here? Every term used in this briefing, explained in plain words. No jargon left unexplained.

Swing High / Swing Low
The last peak (swing high) or valley (swing low) on the chart — the little bumps price made before reversing.
Traders watch these because price often reacts there: it might bounce off a swing low or stall at a swing high.
Range
How far price moved from its lowest to highest point in a session.
A 'quiet range' means price barely moved. An 'expanded range' means it moved more than usual — higher volatility day.
ATR (Average True Range)
The average distance price travels in a typical session — its 'normal step size'.
When the day's range is bigger than ATR, price is moving more than usual. When smaller, it's a quiet day. Helps size stops sensibly.
Liquidity Sweep
Price briefly dips below a swing low (or above a swing high) to grab the stop orders sitting there, then snaps back.
It's the market 'raiding' the stops before the real move. Seeing a sweep then a reversal is often a strong signal.
Bias / Directional Lean
Which way the market seems to be leaning — bullish (upward), bearish (downward), or no strong lean.
Bias doesn't mean price will definitely go that way. It's the direction that looks more likely given current structure. Always have a plan if it goes the other way.
Invalidation Level
The price where your reason for the trade is no longer valid — 'if it gets here, my idea was wrong'.
Knowing your invalidation level before entering helps you decide where to put your stop loss and whether the trade is worth the risk.
Retest
When price comes back to a level it just broke through — testing whether that level now holds as support or resistance.
After a breakout, many traders wait for the retest (the return visit) as a higher-quality entry rather than chasing the initial break.
Scalping
Taking very quick, small trades — in and out in minutes, targeting small price moves.
Scalpers trade frequently and need tight spreads. Around news events, TFW teaches to avoid scalping because spreads widen and stops get hit fast.
Spread
The gap between the buy price and sell price — the broker's fee for the trade.
Around high-impact news, spreads can widen dramatically (5-10× normal). This is why TFW teaches to step back before news: your stop might get hit just from the spread alone.
Stop Hunt
When price briefly spikes to hit a cluster of stop-loss orders before reversing in the original direction.
Common before and after news events. Setting stops at 'obvious' round numbers or just below swing lows makes you more vulnerable.
Consolidation
Price moving sideways in a tight zone — taking a breather, not going anywhere in particular.
After a big move, markets often consolidate before continuing. TFW teaches patience here: wait for a breakout with momentum rather than trading inside the range.
Breakout
When price pushes through a level it's been unable to get past — breaking the ceiling or the floor.
The best breakouts have momentum behind them (strong candle, volume if available). Fakeouts (false breakouts) are common, so many traders wait for a close beyond the level or a retest.
Pullback
A temporary move against the main trend — a step backwards before the trend continues.
Pullbacks are one of the best trade entries in trending markets. TFW teaches to wait for price to pull back to a key level (like the 50 EMA or a swing low) before entering in the direction of the trend.
Red Folder
High-impact news events shown in red on the ForexFactory economic calendar — the big announcements that can move markets sharply.
Examples: CPI (inflation), NFP (US jobs), central bank rate decisions. TFW teaching: step back from the market 15-30 minutes before red folder releases and wait for the chaos to settle.
Risk:Reward (R:R)
How much you could make versus how much you're risking on a single trade — e.g. 1:2 means risking $1 to potentially make $2.
Even if you're only right 40% of the time, a 1:3 R:R can still be profitable. TFW teaches to aim for at least 1:2 before taking a trade.
