What 2026 Markets Mean for Women Traders (And How to Navigate Them)

By Amanda Custer, Co-Founder & Head Trader, TFW Global · May 5, 2026

Okay, let me be real with you for a second.

When markets got chaotic earlier this year — volatility spiking, indexes swinging, gold doing what gold does — I watched a lot of new traders do one of two things: either freeze completely, or start chasing everything that moved.

Neither worked.

But the women inside our community who had a plan? They actually thrived. Not because they predicted every move (nobody does). Because they understood their system, knew which markets to watch, and — this is the part most people skip — knew when to step away.

If you're learning to trade in 2026, I want to give you an honest picture of what women trading 2026 actually looks like: the opportunities, the challenges, and why this moment is genuinely a good time to be building your trading skills.

TFW Global (formerly Forex for Women) runs weekly market analysis calls alongside all our trading education — because we believe you should never walk into a trading session wondering what's going on. Here's my breakdown for right now.

What Are Markets Actually Doing in 2026?

The short answer: moving. Sometimes a lot.

2026 has brought elevated volatility across the board — geopolitical news, macro economic shifts, and policy uncertainty have all played into choppy conditions in some markets while others have been surprisingly clean and trend-friendly.

Here's how I'd break it down for new traders:

Forex (currency pairs) The major forex pairs — EURUSD, GBPUSD, AUDJPY, and others — are alive and well. Some pairs have been exceptionally clean in their trends this year. AUDJPY in particular has drawn a lot of attention inside our community as a pair that, while it can move fast, has been trending beautifully for members who know how to read it.

For beginners, daily timeframe forex is still one of the most forgiving places to start. The setups are slower and easier to manage around a busy schedule.

Futures (NQ, ES, Gold) If you're trading futures, 2026 has been dynamic. NQ and ES (the Nasdaq and S&P) saw sharp moves around news events — exactly the kind of volatility that rewards traders who can stay disciplined and exactly the kind that punishes those who chase.

Gold (XAU) has been a polarising instrument this year. Some traders love it for the range and the energy. Others find it exhausting. The honest answer: it depends entirely on your system and risk tolerance, and newer traders should be cautious.

The 21 EMA system we teach at TFW works across all these markets and timeframes — which is honestly one of my favorite things about it. You're not locked into one instrument. You can find what fits you.

Amanda Custer, TFW Co-Founder & Head Trader

"Markets don't love uncertainty. But we do! Volatility creates opportunity — oil can stay strong, gold can see buyers step in. Indexes get shaky at first but they still follow structure. The key is not reacting to news — it's having a plan before the news hits so you're not making emotional decisions in real time."

Should Beginners Even Trade During Volatile Markets in 2026?

Here's my genuine answer: yes, with the right support and approach.

Here's what I've seen go wrong for beginners in volatile markets:

  • They overtrade — more opportunity feels like more chance to win, but it actually multiplies the risk of mistakes
  • They increase position size when they shouldn't, trying to "make up" for a bad stretch
  • They abandon their system because "it doesn't work in these conditions" — usually right before it would have worked

And here's what I've seen go right:

  • Members who stay with their plan, size positions conservatively, and treat volatility as data rather than threat
  • Women who step back during genuinely unclear conditions and return when the charts give clean setups again
  • Traders who ask for help inside the community instead of trying to figure it out alone

The single biggest predictor of how someone does in a volatile market is not their strategy. It's their discipline. And discipline is something you build over time, with repetition and — honestly — with a supportive environment that keeps you accountable.

This is exactly why I called 2026 "the year of laying bricks" on our first call of the year.

Amanda Custer, TFW Co-Founder & Head Trader

"2026 — I'm calling it the year of laying bricks. We just lay down solid foundations that we can grow on and compound on. The women who do that work, who stay consistent even when the markets feel uncertain, are going to see the results. This isn't a get-rich-quick year. It's a compound-your-skills year."

Which Markets and Pairs Are Best for New Women Traders Right Now?

This is the question I get most often, and I'll give you a straight answer — with the caveat that the best market for you ultimately depends on your schedule, risk tolerance, and what you enjoy trading.

For beginners with limited time: Daily timeframe forex pairs. You check charts once a day (or even once every few days), set your pending orders, and let price come to you. This fits around a full-time job, kids, or any other life you have outside of trading. The drawback: fewer setups, so patience is required.

For traders with a 1-3 hour morning window: 15-minute to 1-hour chart trading in the London or New York session. NQ and ES have been particularly active during these hours in 2026. You get more setups and faster feedback loops — which means you learn faster, but also face more emotional pressure.

For traders who want multiple instruments: A rotating watchlist approach — which is exactly how we teach it at TFW. Every week, our advanced calls walk through the current state of our symbol list (forex majors, gold, NQ, ES, and others) so members know where the clean setups are sitting and where to avoid the noise.

You don't have to figure this out alone. That's the whole point of trading in a community.

"For 2025 I was only trading Gold but I got burnt out from its craziness. For 2026 I have been mostly trading only AUDJPY and it's been a phenomenal pair. It can get crazy and reverse on you but it's a beautiful steady pair. Last night in Asia Session I saw price breaking my trendline."

Why Simplified Systems Win in Complex Market Conditions

One thing I've learned after years of trading: the more uncertain the market environment, the simpler your system needs to be.

When you're running 12 indicators and watching six timeframes simultaneously, volatility breaks you. There are too many conflicting signals, too many decisions to make, too many ways to second-guess yourself.

Our system is built on the 21 EMA and a single entry signal — the A+ candle. That's it. It works on any timeframe, any major instrument, any market condition. Not because it catches every move. Because it keeps you anchored to structure even when everything around you is moving.

When markets were choppy in February and March this year, members who stuck to waiting for genuine A+ setups came through cleanly. Members who started adding filters, switching systems, or "just this once" taking off-system trades — they're the ones who had a rough stretch.

Simple wins. Boring wins. Consistency over cleverness, always.

"My plans were changing so much from the beginning of the year. I was making it so complicated — trailing behind every candle, every structure. Then I just stopped. JUST SET IT AND FORGET IT. My 2.5 hours of daily trading has turned into my meditative time."

What New Women Traders Should Focus on Right Now (Not What the News Says)

Honestly? If you're new to trading in 2026, the noise around market conditions matters a lot less than you think. Here's what I'd focus on instead:

  1. Learn your system before you trade live. Seriously. Demo trade until your entries are automatic, until you know your stop placement cold, until you've taken at least 30 trades and can see your results clearly.

  2. Pick one or two instruments and master them. Don't try to trade everything. Get to know how one pair or instrument moves — its rhythm, its tendencies, when it's clean and when it's not.

  3. Protect your capital like it's the most important thing. Because it is. Risk management is not a strategy add-on. It's the foundation. No trading career survives without it.

  4. Understand the current macro environment — but don't trade the news. Our weekly Sunday Broadcast inside TFW covers what's happening across all our markets so you're never caught off guard. But the goal is context, not prediction. We let the chart setups come to us.

  5. Track your results honestly. Not just wins and losses — the quality of your entries, whether you followed your plan, how your mindset showed up. This data will teach you more than any course.

"For the past month, my stats were 3 wins and 12 losses on forex daily timeframe, taking A+ entries only. I know Amanda warned about consolidation this month. Should I have stepped away? I feel like I needed permission to wait — and this community gave me that."

This is such a common and important experience. Consolidating markets produce fewer clean setups. The right response is patience, not more trades. And knowing that — having someone coach you through it in real time — changes everything.

How TFW Global Prepares Women to Trade Any Market

What makes TFW different is not that we predict markets better than anyone else. We don't claim to. No one can.

What we offer is structure: a proven system that works across instruments and conditions, weekly live calls with coaches who are actively trading in current market conditions, and a community of 2,500+ women who are on the same journey.

Every week inside TFW Global, we cover:

  • Sunday Broadcast — Amanda's weekly market overview, what she's watching, where the clean setups sit
  • Tuesday live trading session — Amanda, Jemma, and Jenn all trading live, with members watching and trading alongside
  • Thursday advanced recordings — deeper chart analysis and strategy refinement
  • Weekly mindset call — because emotions are the #1 reason traders fail, and we address this head-on
Amanda Custer, TFW Co-Founder & Head Trader

"This is a community of women with like-minded interests — just becoming better humans in all areas of our lives. Financial. Heart-centered. Mindset. All of the things. And I truly believe the 21 EMA system is the best system in the world — not because it's perfect, but because it's simple enough that you can actually execute it consistently, and that's what matters."

Whether markets are trending cleanly or moving in consolidation, the goal is always the same: show up with your plan, wait for your setup, size appropriately, and let the trades come to you.

That's how you build a trading career in 2026 — or in any year.
